Many group tours to the Marble Mountains include a stop at a large marble showroom in Non Nuoc village, often described as a visit to watch the carvers. Showrooms that receive tour groups usually share part of what visitors spend with the tour operator or guide, which is how some very low tour prices are made to work.
The stop is not a scam, and nobody has to buy anything. But it takes time from the morning and the prices are set with it in mind. To avoid it, ask before booking whether the tour includes any shop stop, and get the answer in writing.
A carving yard, never a sales floor
Our tours visit a working yard in Non Nuoc and include no shop stop. That is written into every booking.

The arrangement is simple. A large showroom welcomes the group, offers water and a look at a few carvers at work, and then leads visitors through the sales floor. When visitors buy, the shop passes a share of the sale to whoever brought them. For a tour sold at a very low price, that share can be part of what makes the day pay.
Reviews of Marble Mountains group tours mention the stop regularly, with the same pattern: the caves and pagodas praised, the shop described as expensive or a waste of time. The stone village itself is described in Non Nuoc stone village.
What does the stop cost you?
| Cost | What it means |
|---|---|
| Time | A real share of a half-day tour, usually at the end |
| Prices | Showroom prices are set with the arrangement in mind, so first quotes run high |
| Pressure | Sales staff are on hand throughout; some visitors find it uncomfortable |
| Shipping upsell | Large pieces come with crating and freight quotes on the spot |
If you do want a statue, it is better bought on your own terms; see buying marble in Da Nang and shipping a statue home.
How do you book a tour without a shop stop?
Ask the operator one direct question before paying: does the tour stop at any shop, showroom or factory, including a stone workshop? A clear no in writing is what you want. Watch for wording such as a visit to a stone-carving workshop or a factory tour, which can mean a sales floor.
Private tours can usually be set up without any shop, because the price is not built on sales. Going on your own also avoids it; the Marble Mountains itinerary works without any guide at all, and tour or on your own compares the options.
What do our tours do instead?
We visit a working carving yard, where you watch statues being roughed out, shaped and finished, and can try a chisel on a practice piece. There is no sales floor and no pressure to buy, and we earn nothing from any purchase you make anywhere in the village. If you want to shop, your guide will leave the choice of where and when to you.
Prefer a morning with no sales stop?
Both our private tours visit a working yard, never a showroom, with a licensed local guide and every ticket included.
