How To Get To The Marble Mountains From Da Nang And Hoi An

The Marble Mountains are about 8 to 9 km south of central Da Nang, a 15 to 20 minute ride that costs roughly 50,000 to 80,000 VND by Grab. From Hoi An they are about 20 km north, 25 to 40 minutes by car, and a Grab costs around 200,000 to 250,000 VND.

The address is 81 Huyen Tran Cong Chua; ask for Gate 1 for the stairs or Gate 2 for the elevator. Local buses and rented motorbikes cost less; a Grab is the simplest way for most visitors, and getting a ride back is rarely a problem.

Where exactly do you get dropped off?

The listed address of the Marble Mountains is 81 Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang, and Thuy Son, the hill you climb, has two gates on that road. Each has a ticket booth, so tell the driver which one you want.

Gate 1 is the stairway gate: 156 stone steps straight up to Tam Thai pagoda, the quickest way to Huyen Khong cave. Gate 2 has the elevator, which replaces the 108-step east stairway to Linh Ung pagoda, and Am Phu cave is right beside it. With older travellers or on a hot day, ask for Gate 2.

How do you get to the Marble Mountains from Da Nang?

From central Da Nang the Marble Mountains are a short, flat ride down the coast. Grab is what most visitors use, and the other options only make sense if you are on a tight budget or already have a motorbike.

OptionTypical costTimeGood for
Grab or taxi50,000 to 80,000 VND15 to 20 minMost visitors; pay in the app
Rented motorbikeabout 150,000 VND a dayabout 15 minConfident riders; parking at the gate costs a few thousand dong
Local busunder 30,000 VND25 to 40 min, plus waitingTight budgets and flexible schedules

Prices were checked in September 2026 and move with fuel and demand. From hotels along My Khe beach the ride is shorter and cheaper than from the west bank of the river.

How do you get to the Marble Mountains from Hoi An?

From Hoi An the Marble Mountains are about 20 km north along the coast. A Grab or taxi takes 25 to 40 minutes and costs around 200,000 to 250,000 VND one way, more with a taxi meter than in the app.

Local buses between Hoi An and Da Nang pass the mountains and cost a small fraction of that, but they are slow, stop often and do not drop you at the gate; the stop by Non Nuoc market leaves about a ten-minute walk to the gates. A rented motorbike works well for experienced riders, since the coast road is straight and the hills are hard to miss.

If you are moving hotels between Da Nang and Hoi An anyway, the Marble Mountains sit almost exactly on the way, which makes them a natural stop on transfer day.

How do you get back?

Getting a Grab back from the Marble Mountains is usually easy; cars drop visitors at the gate all day.

If you plan to add Non Nuoc beach, it is about five minutes away, so one ride can cover both. Before booking the ride, see the Marble Mountains tickets and opening hours so you do not arrive as the elevator stops, and the complete Marble Mountain guide for how to spend your time once you are there.

When does a private car make more sense than Grab?

A single Grab to the Marble Mountains and back is cheap and works well. A private car earns its place when the day has more than one stop: the Lady Buddha on Son Tra is on the opposite side of the city, and linking it with the Marble Mountains, a stone-carving yard and perhaps Hoi An means three or four separate rides and some waiting between them.

It also matters for timing. Reaching Huyen Khong cave while the light is in it means being on the hill between about 9:00 and 11:00, which is easier to hold to when the car is waiting for you rather than the other way round.

Honest noteIf all you want is the Marble Mountains, you do not need a tour or a private car. A Grab each way costs less than lunch, the main gate is easy to find, and the hill is signposted once you are in. Our tours make sense for the longer day, not for the ride.

Would you rather be collected at your hotel?

Two private tours from Da Nang, with a licensed local guide, every entrance fee paid and the car waiting between stops.
