Marble Mountains Tickets, Opening Hours and What Each Ticket Covers

Entry to Thuy Son, the one Marble Mountain you climb, costs 40,000 VND (~$2) and covers the pagodas, the viewpoints and the caves on the hill, Huyen Khong included. The elevator is a separate ticket at 15,000 VND (~$1) per ride, and Am Phu cave at the foot of the hill has its own entrance at 20,000 VND (~$1).

The site opens at 7:00 and closes at 17:30, but the ticket booths and the elevator stop around 17:00. Children under 6 enter free. Nothing needs booking ahead; you buy at the gate on the day.

The three tickets, and what each one opens

There is no combined pass. You pay for the mountain, then separately for the elevator if you want it, and separately again for Am Phu cave.

TicketPriceWhat it gets you
Thuy Son (main entry)40,000 VND (~$2)The stone stairway, Linh Ung pagoda, Tam Thai pagoda, the viewpoints and every cave on the hill, including Huyen Khong
Elevator15,000 VND (~$1) per rideOne trip between Gate 2 at the foot of the hill and the upper terrace by the Xa Loi tower, just above Linh Ung pagoda. Up and down is two rides
Am Phu cave20,000 VND (~$1)The separate cave at the foot of Thuy Son, laid out as the Buddhist underworld

Children under 6 go in free. The prices above come straight from our own booking system, so they change here when they change at the gate.

Opening hours, and the times that actually matter

The gates open at 7:00 and the site closes at 17:30. The more useful numbers sit inside that window.

Before 9:00

The quietest part of the day. Tour coaches from Da Nang and Hoi An tend to arrive between about 9:00 and 11:00, so the first two hours are the ones with the stairs to yourself.

9:00 to 11:00

The hours when sunlight falls through the openings in the roof of Huyen Khong cave on a sunny day. If you only care about one moment on the mountain, plan around this one.

After about 16:00

The coaches have gone and the heat has eased, but the light has left Huyen Khong. The booths and the elevator stop around 17:00, so arrive by 16:00 if you want an unhurried hour on top.

Do you need the elevator ticket?

Probably less than you think. The elevator starts at Gate 2, beside Am Phu cave, and lifts you to the terrace by the Xa Loi tower, just above Linh Ung pagoda. From there, the caves, the rock chimney of Van Thong and the viewpoints are still reached by stone steps, and some of them are steep and uneven.

What it saves is the east stairway, 108 stone steps up to Linh Ung pagoda, which matters on a hot morning or with older travellers. The other stairway, 156 steps from Gate 1 up to Tam Thai pagoda, has no elevator. Many people ride up and walk down, which is one ticket rather than two.

For the order in which to see everything once you are up, the complete Marble Mountain visitor guide walks through the hill stop by stop.

Paying at the gate

The booths sell in Vietnamese dong, so carry small notes. Keep the ticket until you leave: it is checked at the stairway and again at the elevator.

Dress for a working religious site. Shoulders and knees covered is the rule at the pagodas, and shoes come off at the shrine rooms.

Honest noteYou do not need a tour to get in. All three tickets together cost less than a Grab from central Da Nang, and the booth staff will point you to the stairs. What a private day adds is the car, the order of the caves, a guide who explains them and the timing for the light, not access.

Want the tickets, the timing and the stories handled?

Two private tours from Da Nang, each with a licensed local guide and every entrance fee included.

No. Am Phu has its own entrance at the foot of Thuy Son and its own ticket at 20,000 VND (~$1).
